Fair Use

The Four Factors of Fair Use

  1. The Purpose and character of the use, this means that you might not get copyrights but it just depends on what you use the material for .
  2. The nature of the copyrighted work, this means that you won’t get copyrighted if you don’t post the material online for your benefit. For Example, if I made a video dancing to Freaky Friday by Chris Brown and I used his song throughout the entire video, its would be smart to not post it online, unless you edit the video down to avoid getting flagged but if you’re not an editing wiz i’d suggest option one.
  3. The amount and substantiality of the work  used in relation to the work as a whole, maning you can avoid being flagged by cutting down the amount of material you’re using from someone else. For example, if you want to pinpoint a scene from a movie on your youtube channel, don’t show the entire scene! use little clips to pin point the key moments you want to show . Don’t push your luck.
  4. The effect of the use upon the potential market for the copyrighted work.Meaning that if you are gunna use copyrighted material make sure that you’re using it for a good purpose that won’t harm the owners market. You cannot post a music video that Vimeo posted onto your channel because that would take away views and thats how they make profit.Remember! they OWN that video.

Safety In The Workplace

Screen Shot 2018-03-28 at 8.28.37 AM.pngBeing a teen and  working can be very beneficial  for you.Having a part time job helps you balance school life and work life all at once. Which is a crucial lesson for teens to learn. Also making income is very good for a student to get used to so they can have a general idea of how to manage your money  and what to spend it on, whether you’re saving up for a car or a pair of shoes you’re dying to order online before they sell out .As these are very beneficial and important for a student to learn , teens don’t realize what the most important part of working is, which is their rights as a worker and minor.Although as a teen this may seem like something you can  care less about , it is crucial  to anyone in the work force.

One of those huge rights as a worker is the safety of that work place you spend all weekend at from 9 in the morning to 5 o’clock in the evening. Most of these responsibilities goes to the management department. These responsibilities include spotting the hazard. As a manager, if you see something that can be a hazard is your responsibility to spot that hazard and fix it. Another responsibility would be to give out proper training on how to operate equipment in the workplace. Another responsibility would be to make wearing safety equipment a top priority in the workforce. After all these are your employees and you want them as safe as possible .

A lot of people may underestimate their workplace of hazards but their are many examples of some including , frayed electrical wires, sharp equipment , noisy equipment and  chemicals containing allergens. These hazards are serious and are resulting 230,000 teens being injured in the workplace each year. Up to 70,000 teens are sent to the E.R and at least 70 teens die from work related injuries in the work place. serious injuries include , broken bones, concussions, amputations. The causes of these injuries are from unsafe equipment , stressful conditions, and inadequate safety training.

If injured on the job, the employee has some responsibilities  involving being on top of your paper work when filing a workers compensation to pay off medical bills and wages. Knowing what time they can be left alone till at work. Also asking questions should be the top responsibility to keep in mind. If you don’t know how to do something it’s your responsibility to ask those questions to a supervisor.Overall these work related injuries need to be prevents more and the only thing that reduce that number is staying on top of out responsibilities in the work force.

Eventually everyone obtains a job and I’d have to say its very exciting . Working keeps you busy and your body active (depending on the job).Months later you’ll most likely realize that your body can be sore whether its your legs and arms from carrying from a stock room or moving boxes in a warehouse , or even your lower back from spending 8 hours sitting in front of your desk completing a report on the percentage of revenue your company has obtained from the month of March to July. These pains might seem a bit petty but overtime your body can wear down and can cause MSDs(musculoskeletal disorders) that affect the muscles, nerves, blood vessels ,ligaments and tendons. It is very important for a company to discuss strategies to avoid work related injuries. This process is called Ergonomics which helps lessen muscle fatigue , increases productivity and reduces the number and severity of work related MSDs. Now that’ve listed some of the benefits of Ergonomics its time to explain what the process is all about. A start to approaching Ergonomics is discussing ways to prevent injuries at the workplace to employees , but in order to do so management needs complete one very important task. This task would be to stay committed to protecting their employees and following specific procedures. Another step would be to assign a specific task to a suitable person that can complete the task . For example, if I managed a bar and at the end of the night I need kegs stocked up before I clock out and i have a short and skinny bartender on the clock and not to mention I have great physical appearance . Should I let the bartender stock up and have the risk of getting injured or just send myself to do it? A great manager should already know the right answer and that would be sending yourself . Overall, remember that employees have the right to work at a safe workplace and if an injury does occur that would be all on management. This is a serious topic that needs to be discussed to decrease the 30 % of work related injuries in America .
